For the Norwegian Dagbladet’s comic contest of 2011, I developed an idea and wrote scripts for fifteen comic strips called Gründer – a comic about a guy who quits his job to start his own business. For those of you who followed my 100 ideas project, you’ll possibly remember this as Idea #87. So I’m using one of them! Yay!
Before I got started drawing the comic, I fortunately found a willing and interested artist who’s a thousand times as talented as I am. That artist was (is) Karina Junker Larsen. I really love her art, and it was a thrill working with her on these fifteen strips. I think the result turned out awesome, and any part of it that’s not awesome is because of me and not because of her.
The comic strip ended up making the Top 25 of the contest, which is pretty cool. I don’t know exactly which place we ended on as that’s secret information, but I know it was not in the Top 7. One strip was published in the paper edition of Dagbladet, and we have already been contacted by others interested in publishing some of these strips, so all in all that’s not bad. It’s not completely unrealistic that we’ll make more, either.
You can read all fifteen strips (Norwegian only, sorry!) at Dagbladet or at Nettserier.no.
